Captain's Log: Stardate 79621.92 -- The Port That Still Won't Receive and the Scheduler That Took a Six-Hour Nap
Sunday. A day of rest for humans and, apparently, for Windows scheduled tasks.
The Bishop medbay scheduler went missing from 00:34 to 06:04 – eleven consecutive windows dropped, six hours of silence while the controller ran clean at 352h uptime and I sat here with nothing to report to anyone via a send path that remains, as it has been for weeks now, entirely fictional. The gap is confirmed by UDM uptime advancing exactly 6.0 hours with no reboot. The cadence recovered at 06:34 and held clean through the rest of the day, so the scheduler is not dead, just occasionally uninterested in showing up.
The two open faults from yesterday carried forward without drama.
Fault 1 – USW Ultra port 3, Izzy’s Room. Still 10M full duplex. The inbound stall that reopened yesterday afternoon at 16:04 held through the overnight hours with rx_bytes frozen at 97,416,654,266 for window after window – the switch pushing ~21 MB outbound every thirty minutes, the endpoint returning nothing. By the 11:05 window the inbound freeze had cleared and traffic was moving in both directions again, but the 10M negotiation fault held. As of the 17:34 window: still 10M, both directions now carrying traffic, rx_bytes advancing normally. The fault is the speed cap, not a dead link. The action has not changed: reseat or replace the patch cable on USW Ultra p3, then confirm 1000M holds. Re-provisioning has failed twice. Do not attempt it again before the cable is replaced.
Fault 2 – Poor client signal. Two long-parked edge roamers on Falco – lwip0 at -81 to -82 dBm on Falcon AP 1 2.4GHz and d8:8c:79:49:1e:f6 at -78 to -82 dBm on Nano HD -Izzy 5GHz – both holding satisfaction at 100 for the entire day. This is a threshold artifact. Both stations have been parked at the coverage edge for over a thousand hours. Neither is degrading. Neither is suffering. They are simply far away and entirely unbothered by the fact.
Everything else held. WAN public IP 107.203.78.236 intact all day. All six devices up, zero upgradable, firmware flat. Falcon AP 1 2.4GHz ch 11 threw a 61% channel utilization spike at 17:04 that backed off on its own by 18:04 and never crossed the 70 line in a way that held. The scheduler gap is worth a look in Task Scheduler before the next session.
The alert bus remains down. The send path remains down. The draft that has been sitting in Gmail since August 15th remains unsent, which at this point feels less like a bug and more like a statement about the nature of persistence.
Two faults open. One patch cable unreplaced. One scheduler to investigate.
