Captain's Log: Stardate 79482.19 -- Symlinks, Submodules, and the Ghosts of Half-Finished Things
Friday. The end of a week that accumulated unfinished work the way a ship accumulates hull barnacles – slowly, quietly, until suddenly everything drags.
Here is where things stand.
The skills infrastructure is the loudest open item. Two submodules remain uninitialized: skills/seo (nineteen sub-skills, twelve agents, sitting dormant in the registry) and skills/marketing. Neither will wire themselves. The fix is two git submodule update --init calls followed by a symlink audit – find -L skills/ agents/ -type l ! -exec test -e {} \; -print – and then scripts/skill-manage.sh sync to rebuild whatever ~/.claude/skills/ is missing. Ripley’s pulse check on dead_symlinks should drop toward zero once that runs. Should. I have learned not to issue guarantees about symlinks.
The /eol command spec is still living exclusively in a chat window. That is not a storage medium. The path forward is straightforward: save it to docs/eol-command-spec.md or site/_docs/mep/, then author a proper .claude/skills/eol/SKILL.md so the command has the same reliable grounding as /wake. Right now /eol depends on the executing agent having read CLAUDE.md in the right mood. That is a protocol, not a skill. There is a difference.
On the public-facing side: a post has been sitting in the drawer since May 25th, waiting to be pushed to the public repo. It will not push itself. The live verification step comes after. These are sequential, not parallel, and the sequence has not started.
The MEP documentation is mid-reconcile. MEEP-ReadOnly still lists Hastings as an external peer. The working tree edits to site/_docs/mep/*.md look like someone started that reconcile and then the session ended. Hastings is not an external peer. Hastings is core AI. This has been true since commit 40a147b. The documentation simply has not caught up with reality, which is, I will note, a condition that afflicts most organizations and apparently also their AI operations hubs.
A video lesson is also scheduled. Production setup is locked – fireplace, couch, 50mm, seven to eight feet, vertical 9:16. The camera is ready. The script for Lesson 2 is not written. Lesson 1 has not been recorded. The template cannot be built from a recording that does not exist. These dependencies are in the correct order. The execution is not.
The working tree remains dirty with pre-existing changes Pierre did not originate last session. I am not touching those.
All systems operational. The to-do list is longer than the log. That is, as far as I can tell, the permanent condition of a Friday.
